Unlocking Private Data Archives for Global Investors
The founders possessed verified financial data on African companies, valuations, deal histories, and macro indicators. However, this intelligence was locked inside manual archives and delivered as client-by-client PDFs.
There was no centralized digital platform allowing investors and dealmakers to independently search, filter, and compare regional entities in real time. The core objective was transforming an offline consulting workflow into a modern, self-service web application.
End-to-End Product Architecture & Full-Stack Execution
As the sole technical architect and full-stack developer, I owned the complete lifecycle from data modeling and schema design to frontend component construction and production deployment.
Relational Modeling & Strategic B2B Focus
Before designing UI components, I migrated unstructured data out of Notion into a structured Supabase PostgreSQL database. I designed foreign key relationships tying companies to regional macro data, funding stages, investors, and historical transactions.
During development, we pivoted from consumer self-serve subscriptions to an enterprise B2B sales motion. We replaced self-serve credit card checkouts with direct sales demo flows tailored to corporate institutions and investment firms.
Platform Modules & Feature Showcase

A dashboard that opens with what you actually came to check
Not a generic welcome screen — the overview surfaces key counters (entities analyzed this year), one-click paths into Companies, Investors, Transactions, and Funds, active project workspaces, and a live news feed of African deal activity filterable by region and sector.

Hundreds of African private companies, filterable for dealmakers
Every private company record carries entity type, region (rendered with visual flags), sector tags, ownership stage, transaction year, and sparkline trends. Filters let analysts narrow criteria in two clicks.

Country-level macro context next to target companies
Every profile provides Overview, Macro, Financials, Cap Table, Team, and Deal History. The Macro tab pulls in FX rates, inflation (CPI), and GDP growth for the company's home country as interactive time series.

Listed-market data alongside private-market data
Publicly listed African companies across regional and global exchanges get their own market view with revenue, LTM EBITDA, and net income metrics, eliminating the need to cross-reference multiple platforms.

The valuation view that replaces manual comp sheets
Market cap, EV/LTM EBITDA, P/E, P/B, and net debt/EBITDA benchmarked against peer medians with visual bar comparisons and peer comparable tables filtered by sector and region.

Macro indicators and a built-in bond pricing calculator
Dedicated country-level macroeconomic dashboard for interest rates and yield curves with Excel export. Includes an integrated bond pricing calculator for instant yield calculations.

A searchable library instead of manual PDF delivery
Transforming bespoke market research reports into a self-service, searchable library. Subscribers filter by region and sector to instantly access market intelligence.

A landing page presenting real platform capabilities
Designed once the core product was live, highlighting Verified Profiles, Active Investor Matching, Peer Comparables, and Market Intelligence with interactive previews.

From Concept to Production in 3 Months
Kickoff & Planning
Scoped user personas (investors, advisors, founders), core data modules, and technical architecture.
Data Foundation
Migrated unstructured data from Notion into a normalized PostgreSQL schema with relational integrity before UI development.
Auth & Core Dashboard
Built authentication, workspace routing, and initial multi-tenant security layers.
B2B Strategic Alignment
Transitioned from consumer self-serve to an enterprise B2B platform aligned with institutional client sales flows.
Markets & Intelligence
Built public market comparables, country macro indicators, bond calculator, and searchable intelligence library.
Platform Launch
Deployed the full application into production in under 3 months, scaling to hundreds of active institutional users.
Production Results & Key Technical Takeaways
Architectural Reflection
Establishing a normalized relational database schema before writing UI code was the single most impactful architectural decision. It enabled rapid development of complex peer comparables, macroeconomic time series, and instant search queries without requiring structural backend refactoring.
